Volunteers are always needed for RIPA Committees and programs. The commitment required is varied, just like the committee choices -- it can be as little as one hour per month. Play a part in the direction of YOUR Association and join a committee today!

Awards

The Awards Committee nominates members for a variety of annual and special awards, including the Bowl of Hygeia Award and the Young Pharmacist of the Year Award. The committee meets in the late winter or early spring.

Communications

The Communications Committee focuses on public relations, public information, and community outreach. Its purpose is to enhance awareness of the dynamic role pharmacists play as members of the health care team. This committee also serves as an advisory board to our publications and manages the website. This committee meets as needed and members contribute their writing talents to our publications each month.

Constitution and By-Laws

This committee is responsible for reviewing all recommendations to amend the constitution and bylaws and shall present such amendments, with recommendations, for approval as provided for in the Constitution and Bylaws. This committee meets as needed.

Continuing Education

The Continuing Education Committee is responsible for identifying the continuing education requirements and interests of our members and for recommending a comprehensive plan of annual education programs to the Rhode Island Pharmacy Foundation. This committee meets monthly.

Finance

The Finance Committee is responsible for preparing a budget for the succeeding year and maintaining a general ledger that details major activities individually. This committee meets quarterly at a minimum.

Legislative

The Legislative Committee proposes new or revised pharmacy legislative initiatives to the Council of Administration and assists in advancing Association proposals through the legislative process by developing position papers, testifying before various committees, and maintaining liaisons with the leadership and members of the Rhode Island General Assembly. This committee meets monthly.

Membership

The Membership Committee assists in membership recruitment and retention of Rhode Island pharmacists and pharmacy technicians. It also surveys members on satisfaction levels, new services, member benefits, and opportunities for involvement in the Association and the Foundation. This committee meets monthly.

Nominations

The Nominations Committee recommends to the Council those members who would like to play a more official, active role as an officer or member of the Council of Administration. This committee meets during late winter, early spring.

President's Dinner

This committee plans and organizes the annual dinner at which the outgoing President and other departing officers and council members are recognized, and new officers and council members are inducted into office. Recipients of special awards are also recognized for their achievements at this dinner. This committee meets during the winter in preparation for the event.

Golf Tournament

This committee plans the Association's Annual Golf Tournament, including scheduling and logistics, marketing and promotion, invitations, corporate and individual sponsorships, prizes, and hospitality. This committee meets during the winter in preparation for the event.

Raffle

This committee plans and organizes RIPA's Annual Raffle to raise funds for the Association's educational and service programs.

Third Party

This committee is responsible for staying current with third party issues relevant to the profession and communicating them to the Council.
